About
Why I built this
A few years ago, with my first baby, I was trying to figure out how big did my freezer stash need to be if I wanted to start weaning since I was sending in 12 ounces of milk a day into daycare. I was nursing, but even so I could already see we were probably going to have to spend hundreds of dollars on formula as well. With so much about a new baby I couldn't plan for, I at least wanted real numbers for the things I could.
I'm a planner and a numbers person by nature so I built a spreadsheet. It grew and grew until it was tracking ounces, costs, and time across nursing, pumping, and formula feeds for that first year. Eventually the spreadsheet turned into a little app, just for me. Now, on my second baby, I decided to turn my little personal apps into something I could share.
That's what Costs for Littles is: the tool I wish I'd had, cleaned up for other parents who like to plan ahead. It's a planning tool and not medical advice, so always follow your pediatrician on what and how much your baby should eat. But if you're the kind of person who likes to see the numbers in advance, I hope it helps.
